Pricing Scientist - US-Based
Full-Time, Mid-Senior Level
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Vistaar pre-sales teams and customers, including senior management, on matters of pricing science. This includes:
- Helping communicate to the sales prospect the company’s pricing science capabilities and the opportunities that modern pricing methods represent,
- Participating in the discovery process and establishing requirements,
- Conducting supporting analyses and presenting not just the findings but also their implications to the customer.
- Lead statistical / mathematical analyses of customer-supplied data, including:
- Data mining.
- Determination of optimal segmentation and peer grouping using cluster and other analytical methods.
- Measurement of willingness-to-pay, demand function, and the trade-offs extant between contribution margin and volume.
- Application of various price optimization techniques such as dynamic list pricing, markdown management, yield management, promotions optimization, and customized pricing.
- Demonstrate thought leadership. Make speaking engagements and appearances at professional conferences. Remain current in the field.
- Guide the development of new pricing methods, including ones based upon measurement and application of price elasticity.
- Supervise and direct a staff of statistical / mathematical analysts located here and abroad. Ensure they are properly qualified, trained and lead.
- Develop and maintain a standard data analysis process supporting POC and new software prospects.
- Maintain statistical analysis software tools, such as SPSS and others, and ensure they are adequate for our purposes.
- Serve other duties that may arise.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven thought leadership in pricing/ marketing science
- Ability to communicate complex science in a comprehensible way to lay persons
- Five years or more applicable experience, ideally with a major provider of B2B pricing software
- MS Statistics or equivalent from a name university
- Must be familiar with pricing and marketing applications of statistical science including various cluster techniques and statistical analytical / data mining software tools
- Ideally, experienced developing and applying multiple optimization methods: dynamic list pricing, markdown management, yield management, promotions optimization, and customized pricing
